Excellent Way for People to Travel

What an excellent way for people to travel and is a second career for some.

I put a resume together after trying to find out what I really wanted to do. I was a nurse in the ER for a couple decades and am now enjoying the freedom that I've always set as my goal. Loved to travel, but not much opportunity for 20 years.

I was so busy with my career, raising my boys, and once the last son was graduating, I put the house up for sale. Bought our RV, flew from MN to CA and took a month coming back. I knew this was for me.

My employer actually found us via our Awesome Applicants Resume and sent me an email with an invitation to come join the resort they own in Kabetogama National Forest. We had about 20 other invites, but the others really didn't fit my idea of a good time. This couple has owned Northern Lights Resort 4 years now and have had many tough blows with weather, employees not showing up, and trying to maintain this beautiful resort. We made it here May 1 and today, it's still a good fit. The work is hard, however, we helped pull it all together with them and a second Workamper couple. The sunsets, family feel to the resort, and smiles on the guests' faces make all that work and effort seem like nothing. And the fishing...just saying.

Don’t Wait ‘Till It Is Too Late

I am 56 and hubby is 63. We sold our home and gave away most of our stuff one year ago. We have been Workamping since then. I haven't looked back. This gives us the freedom to travel the country and be with family that we wouldn't have been able to visit before. And the best part is I get to be with my grandchildren!  We have worked at 2 amusement parks. They are hard work, but I love it. I go to bed at night thanking God for guiding us to this lifestyle. Two years ago, we couldn't imagine we could pull it off, but we did! Don't wait 'till it is to late. Just do it! Join Workamper News and see all the opportunities out there.

10 Tips to Nail Your Phone Interview

Don’t Sell Yourself Short: Nail Your Phone Interview Every Time

It’s GroundHogs Day and Phil has seen his shadow. That means there’s good news and bad news…

The Good News: You still have time to find your next Workamping Job!

The Bad News:  The prediction has been made for 6 more weeks of Winter!

Spruce up your resume and check the hotline. Send those babies out and when the employer calls, be ready for an interview. I know. I know! The thought of doing all those phone interviews can sometimes be a drag, but here are 10 tips on how to Nail Your Phone Interview Every Time!

10 Tips to Nail Your Phone Interview:

1. Keep your resume in clear view - on the top of your desk or tape it to the wall near the phone - so it’s at your fingertips when you need to answer questions.

2. Have a pen and paper handy for note taking.

3. Turn call-waiting off so your call isn’t interrupted.

4. If the time isn’t convenient, ask if you could talk at another time and suggest some alternatives.

5. Clear the room - evict others and the pets. Turn off the stereo and the TV. Close the door.

6. Unless you’re sure your cell phone service is going to be perfect, consider using a landline rather than your cell phone to avoid a dropped call or static on the line.

7. Don’t smoke, chew gum, eat, or drink. But do keep a glass of water handy, in case you need to wet your mouth.

8. Smile. Smiling will project a positive image to the listener and will change the tone of your voice.

9. Speak slowly and enunciate clearly.

10. Take your time - it’s perfectly acceptable to take a moment or two to collect your thoughts.

Thanks for the memories!

My husband and I were Workampers for almost 20 years!! LOVED every minute of it!! We worked in some really great places and in some not so great places. We feel that some employers try to take advantage of the less expensive labor of a Workamper, because, let's face it, we don't do it to get rich in money. We did it to get rich with memories, and it worked!! We belonged to Workamper News most of that time, and NEVER had a problem finding a job anywhere we wanted to go. It is well worth the few $ it costs per year. Thank you Workamper News for all the wonderful memories!!!
